Materia Architecture Studio
BORDER BASED MULTI-DISCIPLINARY ARCHITECTURE STUDIO
MAS is a multi-disciplinary architecture studiobased in the border cities of El Paso Texas and Ciudad Juárez Chihuahua focused on the design and construction of projects across a wide range of scalesand typologiesusing architectureand designas a catalyst for positive social change.
The studio is heavily invested in collaboration with other designers, clients, consultants and contractors. We place a strong focus on context and sense of place while incorporating new technologiesand sustainable principles for the benefit of the built environment. MAS is a design studio not an office. We have collaborators instead of employees. We believe that by working closely with other designers and consultants during the creative process our collaborators have more ownership and design input on projects.
Our agendas evolve with the team’s schedule by working on deadlines and project progress, not a fixed forty-hour a week schedule. Staff can grow and shrink depending on the amount of work available and focusing on each project’s needs. In a collaborative studio environment work can happen from anywhere, meetings and design strategy sessions can take place when necessary. With less overhead comes more flexibility and the ability to choose, pursue and develop more interesting projects.
